Ms. Lilian Ayebazibwe, aged 56, was further remanded to Namushekyera government prisons by the Bushenyi chief magistrate’s court on Tuesday, facing two charges of forgery.

Presided over by Simon Toloko, the court ordered Ayebazibwe’s detention until Tuesday, March 12, 2024. She stands accused of forging a Primary Leaving Examination certificate belonging to Blessed Ahareza, a pupil at Bubaare Primary School in Bushenyi District, on February 8, 2024, in violation of sections 234 and 347 of the Penal Code Act.

Additionally, Ayebazibwe, who serves as the head teacher of Bubaare Primary School, is charged with releasing forged PLE results despite knowing that the examinations had been withheld by UNEB due to malpractice. Ayebazibwe denied all charges against her.

The prosecution informed the court that following the release of the 2023 Primary Leaving Examinations results by UNEB on February 25, 2024, the results for some schools, including Bubaare Primary School, were withheld for 114 candidates pending investigation.

Counsel Kenneth Oyiine of Deus Kamugisha and Company Advocates argued for bail on health grounds, citing Ayebazibwe’s advanced age and health complications. However, Mr. Toloko insisted on remanding her to Namushekyera government prison until March 12, 2024, to allow the prosecution to gather more evidence.

Ms. Lilian Ayebazibwe, the head teacher of Bubaare Primary School in Bushenyi District, appeared in court on Tuesday at the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Bushenyi.
