Mbabazi Kellet, a first-year Education student at Bishop Stuart University, was tragically found deceased in a farm in Biharye, Mbarara district, with numerous cuts and nails hammered into his body. Today, the 25-year-old was laid to rest at his home in Kitimba ward, Western division Rukungiri municipality.

Kellet had gone missing the previous Thursday evening after leaving campus premises with a friend to check on another friend in Biharye. Upon arriving there, they ventured into a trading center at night. Around 11 pm, Kellet requested his friends to leave, but they insisted on staying. Subsequently, Kellet left them in the town and departed alone. Despite attempts to contact him, his friends couldn’t reach him until Monday when he was discovered deceased by Biharye police.

During his burial today, Wakandagizi Deus and Jesenta Tumutegyerize, Kellet’s parents, expressed profound grief over the loss and appealed to the police to conduct a thorough investigation for justice. They bid farewell to their disciplined and God-fearing son, emphasizing his uniqueness among his siblings. They extended gratitude to family, friends, and the wider community for their support and thanked Bishop Stuart University for its financial and moral assistance.

Byarugaba Michael, the councilor representing Western division at the district council, strongly condemned Kellet’s gruesome murder. He urged law enforcement and investigative agencies to swiftly apprehend the perpetrators. Michael also advised youth and students to steer clear of negative peer groups, cautioning against their potential influence.

Additionally, Kijukuru Vianny, the councilor for Kitimba ward, echoed these sentiments, deploring the prevalence of such incidents and urging youth and students to avoid negative peer groups. He called upon the government and authorities to take decisive action against wrongdoers.
