A total of 108 Christians were confirmed into the Catholic faith at Rwamagaya Parish in Ruhinda Sub County, Rukungiri District, during a Mass presided over by Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira, Bishop of Kabale Diocese.
Following the confirmation, Bishop Rubaramira encouraged all Catholic churches under Rwamagaya Parish to utilize their available land for coffee growing, emphasizing that it could double their income and promote development. He shared his personal success with coffee farming, having recently sold his coffee at thirteen thousand UGX per kilogram. He urged all Christians to cultivate coffee at their churches and homes for sustainable income.
Bishop Rubaramira also praised the Rwamagaya Parish administration for their various projects and mentioned that he is currently visiting different Catholic parishes under the Nyakibale Denary.
Addressing the congregation, Mr. Vanasio Natuhwera Bagatireyo, Chairperson of the Rwamagaya Parish Council, expressed gratitude to Bishop Rubaramira for assigning zealous and hardworking priests who are transforming the parish. He mentioned that they are in the process of titling all parish lands, with plans to grow coffee extensively, noting that Rwamagaya Parish has already planted over 6 acres of coffee.
Hon. Medius Natukunda Kaharata, the Woman MP for Rukungiri District, thanked Bishop Rubaramira for confirming the Christians and congratulated the confirmands. She urged Christians to heed the Bishop’s call to grow coffee and adopt a saving culture to eradicate poverty from their families and communities.
