Police in Bushenyi District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the assault of two individuals in an attempted murder case.
Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and identified the victims as Phionah Ampurira, a 29-year-old hairdresser, and Samuel Kafuuro, 37, both residents of Nyabubare village, Nyabubare Sub-county in Bushenyi District.
Tumusiime also identified the suspect as Imam Mugabe, a resident of the same address.
It is alleged that on June 19, 2024, at around 1:00 AM, the suspect found Samuel Kafuuro engaged in sexual intercourse with his wife, Ampurira, in his rented room located in Nyabubare cell.
The suspect, along with two others who are still at large, attacked Kafuuro and Ampurira, inflicting severe injuries on their bodies. The victim’s cries for help attracted the attention of the local chairman, LC.1, who managed to rescue them alive.
Naboth Muganzi, 59, the chairman of LC.1 Nyabubare, reported that Imam Mugabe also damaged Kafuuro’s motorcycle, a Bajaj with registration number UFY 465A, by hitting it with a big stick.
Tumusiime stated that both victims were evacuated to Ishaka Adventist Hospital for medical attention, with Ampurira admitted to the ICU.
