The Rt. Rev. Onesimus Asiimwe, Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, has urged students to make the most of their time in school to avoid future regrets.

Bishop Asiimwe delivered this message on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, during a pastoral visit to Makobore High School in Western Division, Rukungiri Municipality.

Expressing gratitude for the school’s growing enrollment, he described Makobore High School as a formative institution that has nurtured great men of integrity. He encouraged students to embrace godly values and distance themselves from destructive behaviors such as alcoholism, early sexual activity, witchcraft, excessive social media use, and a luxurious lifestyle. Instead, he advised them to be patient, persevere, and dream big for a successful future.

Meanwhile, Ms. Florence Asiimwe, the Bishop’s wife, commended the students for their discipline and advised male students to avoid associations with alcohol and women, which she referred to as “dream killers.”

Makobore High School Headteacher, Gard Arinaitwe Gakibayo, praised God for the school’s revival and cautioned students against early sexual activity, alcoholism, and drug abuse. He warned that excessive ambition without discipline can lead to downfall.

Obadia Musiime, a teacher at the school and an aspiring Member of Parliament for Rujumbura County, expressed his appreciation for the school’s remarkable enrollment, which has fostered a smooth teaching and learning environment.

Steven Turibyo Kanyonyi, an alumni representative, acknowledged the Bishop’s goodwill towards Makobore High School and thanked parents for renewing their trust in the institution. He further called on all alumni to support efforts to restore the school to its former glory.
