As the third school term begins on Monday, September 15, 2025, youth in Rukungiri district have been encouraged to remain focused on their education, manage their time wisely, and prioritize academic work to achieve their goals.

This call was made by Rev. Muntu Leave Nshabaruhanga, the North Kigezi Diocesan Education Coordinator, while preaching at a one-day youth workshop held at Rwanyanja Church of Uganda in Bugangari Archdeaconry. He urged young people to obey God, maintain discipline, and stay away from negative peer influences, including relationships with “sugar mummies and daddies,” which he warned could ruin their future.

A significant number of youth gave their lives to Christ during the workshop, seeking God’s guidance as they prepare for what Rev. Nshabaruhanga described as a crucial promotional term.

Dr. Edson Matsiko, another key speaker at the event, encouraged students to maintain discipline and strictly follow school rules to create a conducive learning environment. He also called on parents to ensure that children report back to school on time and to follow up with school authorities to confirm their children’s attendance and safety. Dr. Matsiko warned that some students misuse school fees for betting and other unproductive activities instead of paying it at school.

Bugangari Archdeaconry Youth Leader, Denis Bwegye, stressed the importance of timely school attendance, noting that this term determines whether learners are promoted to the next class or level of education.

Rev. Richard Kwehangana, parish priest of Rwanyanja Church of Uganda, expressed gratitude to parents who sent their children to the workshop and emphasized the parish’s commitment to continuing such initiatives. He said these seminars are crucial for mentoring and preparing youth to face academic and moral challenges responsibly.
