St. Barnabas Catholic Parish Karujanga has officially become the 43rd parish in Kabale Diocese, attracting hundreds of Christians from across the diocese for a historic celebration held at St. Barnabas Secondary School grounds in Kibuga Sub County.
The inauguration coincided with the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, a significant day on the Catholic Church calendar worldwide. The new parish has been carved out of Our Lady of Assumption Rwanyana Parish in Ryakarimira Town Council.
Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira, Bishop of Kabale Diocese, presided over the colourful inauguration Mass. In his homily, he reminded Christians that the Cross of Jesus Christ is the ultimate source of life and salvation.
He encouraged Christians to embrace God’s love, remain humble in their communities, and boldly proclaim the name of Jesus without fear. The bishop also urged the faithful to draw strength from the Cross in their daily lives—remaining firm in faith, committed to Christ, and steadfast in spreading the Word of God.
