The youth in Kanungu district are calling for greater empowerment and inclusion in government programs to enable their participation in the monetary economy.
Ivan Mushana, who serves as the director of Tree Uganda Academy and is a youth entrepreneur focused on the Agriculture Value chain, has pointed out that many young people in the area lack the necessary skills, resources, and capital to engage in income-generating projects.
During his address at the launch of MK Movement’s inter-region activities held at Farmers Lounge in Kajara Cell, Southern Ward, Kanungu Town Council, Mushana highlighted a significant challenge, which is the lack of transportation facilities that hinder the distribution of products due to the absence of chain trucks to access markets.
He called upon the government to provide equipment and allocate funds to empower young individuals, enabling them to participate more actively in the monetary economy.
Eng. Sam Arinaitwe Kajojo, the Chairperson of Kanungu District, expressed their commitment to addressing these issues and presenting them for consideration to Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba during the grand ceremony scheduled for November 25, 2023, in Kanungu district.
He emphasized that leaders in the Kigezi Sub-region have compiled a comprehensive report outlining the challenges faced by the region.
Tumwesigye Ambrose Kibuuka, the Regional Chairperson of Team MK Movement in Kigezi, emphasized the importance of strategic initiatives that would enable the residents of the region to benefit from the MK Movement.
