The year-end celebrations at the Rukungiri High Court and Chief Magistrate Court were marked by a warm welcome to the Resident Judge, His Lordship Justice Tom Chemutai, and the new Judicial officers and State Attorneys.

The event served as a moment of reflection for the court staff, providing an opportunity to discuss their experiences and chart a way forward.

During the festivities, the Chief Magistrate Her Worship Mary Edith Mbabazi took the opportunity to acknowledge the valuable contributions of Radio Boona to the court. The radio station was praised for its role in providing airtime to sensitize and educate the masses about the court and legal matters.

Counsel Phionah, representing the lawyers, commended Resident Judge Chemutai for his hardworking nature and effective time management. His punctuality, consistently arriving at the court by 9:00 am, was noted, though it was mentioned that this sometimes put pressure on the legal practitioners. In the few months since assuming the role, His Lordship Chemutai has diligently handled numerous cases in Rukungiri and extended his reach to Kanungu district.

Expressing gratitude, Justice Chemutai appreciated the District and Municipality leadership for generously providing land at no cost. He conveyed a sense of feeling at home in the community.
