The Diocese of Kigezi Vehicle which was stolen on Wednesday at Aponye’s burial in Muhanga town council Rukiga district was on Wednesday night retrieved in Rwampara.
According to the Diocesan Secretary Rev Canon Milton Nkurunungi, the motor vehicle SUZUKI registration number UAT 478N attached to Kikungiri Archdeaconry in the southern division, Kabale municipality under the diocese of Kigezi got stolen by yet-to-be-identified-thieves-during-the-burial-service-at-deceased home in Muhanga town council that had attracted hundreds of people including business operators, political leaders, clergy and government officials among others.
Rev. Canon Nkurunungi on Wednesday evening said that efforts to trace it were still futile.
He said that they have informed all security authorities in western Uganda to help in the search but according to the information got Thursday morning, the thief was apprehended from Rwampara district and currently is at Rwampara police station.
According to the report, the vehicle was stolen by a woman whose identities are yet to be revealed.
Rev. Canon Nkurunungi has condemned the act wondering how such a burial where hundreds were in grief and mourning the loss of Nyegamehe could also attract heartless people.
Nyegamehe who died in a motor accident on Thursday last week at Itojo in Ntungamo district was buried at his ancestral home in Kitaburaza village, Muhanga town council, Rukiga district today in the afternoon.
