Parents have been called upon to take full responsibility for their children’s physical, mental, and emotional development by prioritizing good parenting, ensuring quality education, and instilling values and discipline.

The call was made by Rukungiri Municipality Member of Parliament, Hon. Dr. Elisa Rutahirwa, who was the guest of honor at the 3rd graduation ceremony of Victory International College, held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, in the Southern Division, Rukungiri Municipality.

Hon. Rutahirwa emphasized that children thrive best when parents are actively involved in their lives, offering guidance, support, and a nurturing environment. He congratulated both the graduates and their parents for the milestone reached and urged the graduates to maintain discipline even in their future workplaces.

As part of his contribution to the ceremony, Hon. Rutahirwa donated one million shillings in cash and pledged to provide a computer to support the institution’s academic programs.

Speaking at the same event, the college director, Mr. Rwenyetsya Fabius, revealed that a total of 104 students had graduated with certificates and diplomas in various fields. He advised the graduates to uphold professionalism, ethics, and integrity in their respective careers.

Mr. Fabius urged them to become job creators rather than job seekers, stressing that Uganda needs a workforce rich in practical skills. He appreciated Hon. Rutahirwa for honouring their invitation and supporting the college with both financial and material contributions.

He, however, raised concerns about challenges the institution is currently facing, including an ill-equipped computer laboratory and a shortage of classrooms.

Meanwhile, the college principal, Mr. Stanley Turyatemba, thanked parents for investing in their children’s education. He said the skills students acquired are tools that will serve as a lasting legacy for both the learners and the community.

Mr. Turyatemba encouraged the graduates not to despise any job opportunities and to embrace even modest-paying roles as stepping stones in their careers. He also advised them to pursue further studies beyond the certificate or diploma level.
