Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe, the Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, urged the congregation to avoid following individuals who claim to be God while engaging in violent acts, such as beating people in the name of punishing them for not attending church.

He made these remarks while installing Ven. Andrew Kananura Kanyonyi as the head of Kakinga Archdeaconry at Kakinga Archdeaconry Church of Uganda.

During his sermon, the Bishop emphasized the need for responsibility, calling upon the newly installed Archdeacon, Ven. Andrew, to teach believers the importance of obedience. He noted that Protestants often struggle with obedience, whereas other religious groups tend to be more disciplined.

He also urged politicians and the congregation at large to maintain unity despite political differences. He set an example by recalling how he visited Dr. Besigye in prison, demonstrating that his leadership serves all people regardless of political affiliation.

Ven. Andrew Kananura expressed gratitude to God for his appointment to Kakinga Archdeaconry. He pledged his commitment to serving under the Bishop’s guidance, relying on God for direction.

Geoffrey Kyomukama, the LC5 Chairperson of Rukungiri District, thanked the Bishop for his efforts in promoting coffee farming, spreading the Gospel, and supporting education. He encouraged people to sustain these efforts to eradicate poverty.

Kakinga Archdeaconry elder and Chief Guest of Honor, Emmanuel Turyamuhika Kikoni, pledged his commitment to building churches wherever they are needed. He clarified that his motivation is not wealth but a desire to give thanks to God, alongside his entire family. He also welcomed the new Archdeacon and assured him of their full cooperation.
