The Archdiocese of Mbarara is set to witness a momentous occasion as six deacons prepare for their ordination into priesthood on Friday, February 28, 2025. The sacred event will take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Nyamitanga Cathedral in Mbarara City and will be presided over by His Grace Lambert Bainomugisha, the Archbishop of Mbarara Archdiocese.

The six deacons to be ordained are:
Dn. Katusiime Selenzio – Bwizibwera Parish
Dn. Ngahamire Ambrose – Kashekuro Parish
Dn. Nuwahereza Sabastian – Rushooka Parish
Dn. Mubangizi Henry – Rushooka Parish
Dn. Amanya Lawrence – Nyarushanje Parish, Kabale Diocese
Dn. Namanya M. Justus – Kashekura Parish

The ordination marks the culmination of years of dedication, theological study, and spiritual formation for these deacons as they fully embrace their calling to serve in the Lord’s vineyard. The Nyamitanga Cathedral is expected to be filled with the faithful, clergy, family, and friends who will gather to witness and celebrate this significant milestone in the lives of the ordinands.

The ordination Mass will be a solemn yet joyful ceremony, during which the deacons will receive the Sacrament of Holy Orders, granting them the authority to minister to God’s people through preaching, administering sacraments, and pastoral care. Archbishop Bainomugisha will lay hands on each deacon, invoking the Holy Spirit, a moment that signifies their transformation into priests.

Following their ordination, the newly ordained priests will travel to their respective home parishes for Thanksgiving Masses, where they will celebrate their first Mass and receive blessings from their communities before being officially deployed to their pastoral assignments.

The Archdiocese of Mbarara has a long-standing tradition of nurturing strong, faithful leaders in the Church, and this ordination is another testament to its commitment to spreading the Gospel and serving the spiritual needs of the faithful.
