KABALE– A Uganda Peoples Defense Forces (UPDF) soldier identified as Private Patrick Byamukama has been killed while on a pass leave in Kabale district.

The deceased, a resident of Kanyabiyengo village, Kinyamari parish,Butanda sub-county was killed on Tuesday morning at around 01:00 AM.

According to Gerald Byaruhanga, Kanyabiyengo village LC1 Chairman and Dickson Kamuhanda, an area resident, Byamukama was stabbed in the stomach after reaching home from the nearby trading center for a social hour.

They say that Byamukama was heard making a lot of alarm and as locals rushed there, they found him bleeding heavily with intestines protruding outside.

He was rushed to Kabale regional referral hospital but died moments later in the morning.

They also said that after being stabbed, Byamukama was pulled from home to the nearby passage and dumped at Byaruhanga’s verandah.

The Butanda sub county LC3 Chairman, Barnet Champion confirmed to our reporter about the matter and said that after the incident,angry locals stormed the homes of Gereva Batenana and Hebert Katagamba Katakooza , burnt down their homes and also cut animals in revenge accusing them of being behind the act with an aim of draining blood from the victim for ritual sacrifice.

He added that the late Byamukama had scheduled to return to the job today morning.

He adds that after the act, killers defecate at the scene as a form of traditional and ritual measure to avoid being traced.
