The territorial police in Kabale district have conveyed an unidentified body of an elderly man to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary, where it awaits identification and subsequent burial. The male, believed to be around 65 years old, was discovered on the morning of 19th October 2024 by Byamugisha Daniel, a local farmer, while tending to animals at the farm of Rtd Bishop Rukirande in Ihinoni village, Kyanamira sub-county.

Byamugisha found the body floating in River Rwabakazi at approximately 7:45 AM and quickly alerted nearby residents in an attempt to identify the deceased. Despite thorough efforts by the community and police officers, identification proved unsuccessful.

The Officer in Charge (OC) of Kyanamira, who was called to the scene, notified the OC Kabale Police Station, who in turn involved the District Criminal Investigations Officer (CID). The scene was processed and documented before the body was retrieved and transported to Kabale referral hospital for a postmortem examination.

The deceased was wearing a pair of trousers and a T-shirt with a logo of Makerere University Law Society. Notably, no visible injuries were found on the body. Police are urging anyone who might be missing a relative or loved one to visit the hospital mortuary to help identify the body.

The police continue their efforts to determine the man’s identity and ensure a proper burial.
