Police in Buhweju District are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the murder of a middle-aged man by unidentified assailants, the motives for which remain unknown.

According to Marcial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for Greater Bushenyi police, the incident occurred in Rwomushojwa cell, Kashenyi Ward, Kajani Town Council in Buhweju District. The victim, identified as a man in his early 30s with a tall, brown-skinned, and medium-sized build, was discovered with burn wounds covering his body. The grim discovery was made by Hilder Kebirungi on November 20, 2023, around 1:00 PM, when she entered her food store to retrieve beans after working in her banana plantation. The victim’s lifeless body was found lying atop her harvested beans.

Upon making the shocking discovery, Kebirungi raised an alarm, alerting neighbors, who promptly contacted the village vice-chairman, Geoffrey Tumusiime, aged 43. Tumusiime reported the incident to the Kajani police station.

The deceased, whose identity was not known in the village, was found to have a police bond in the name of Twinomujuni Dan. The bond was related to a theft charge (vide SD Ref 04/23/10/2023) at Kirangazi Police Station in Nakaseke District.

Geoffrey Tumusiime added that the body was taken to Nsiika Health Center IV for postmortem examination, while investigations into the matter are currently ongoing.
