Residents of Nyabicence Cell in Rwakirungura Parish, Buyanja Sub County, Rukungiri District, made a grim discovery today—the body of their fellow community member, Brian Buteeka. The young man, believed to be in his early 20s, is suspected to have drowned in the river.
Brian Buteeka was the son of the late Geresimu Tumuhimbise, who tragically met the same fate in the same river back in the early 2000s.
According to accounts from the local residents, Brian Buteeka went missing on Sunday, November 19, 2023. He had ventured out to catch mudfish along the Kabongoya swamp situated in Omukishunju Cell, Garubunda Parish, Kebisoni Sub County, Rukungiri District. Unfortunately, he was swept away by the water.
