More than 2,700 students from secondary schools in the Kaaro High School zone and Kinoni zone have completed a one-week Patriotism Ideology Orientation training course. They have called upon the government to include patriotism in the national curriculum, aiming to foster a generation of patriotic and disciplined Ugandans.
This call was made by the Member of Parliament for Nyabushozi County, Kiruhura District, Honorable Kajwengye Wilson, during the commissioning ceremony held at Kaaro High School playground for Rushere zone and Kinoni playground for Kinoni zone in Nyabushozi County, Kiruhura District.
The one-week patriotism ideological orientation training was organized by the Patriotism Secretariat in collaboration with Honorable Kajwengye Wilson, the district patriotism coordinator, and secondary school administrators in Kiruhura District.
Honorable Kajwengye emphasized to the participants that being educated in patriotism involves more than just love for their country; it requires devotion, selflessness, and a willingness to sacrifice, even to the extent of laying down one’s life for the nation.
He stressed that patriots should not plan strikes in school, disrespect their teachers, skip classes, or engage in any destructive behavior. Instead, they should remain focused, disciplined, and actively participate in maintaining a clean environment.
The grand function was overseen by the Commissioner of Patriotism in the Office of the President, Seku Harriet, who called for collaborative efforts from school administrators, parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to support government programs without discrimination.
She praised President Museveni for his role in stabilizing Uganda and bringing about socio-economic transformation, urging people to reward him with more votes.
Patrick Kashaija, the Kiruhura District Coordinator of Patriotism and head teacher of Kaaro High School in Rushere town council, expressed gratitude to Honorable Kajwengye Wilson for his unwavering social and economic support towards the development of schools in Nyabushozi.
Kashaija mentioned that administrators expect the participating students to have changed their mindset towards loving Uganda, themselves, and others, by engaging in income-generating activities to combat poverty and other socio-economic challenges.
RDC Bakunda George described patriotism as a profound and unconditional love that requires quality health to achieve dreams and goals.
Bakunda advised the youth to avoid excessive alcohol consumption, which can lead to physical harm and distort their ideology. He also encouraged them to refrain from engaging in activities such as fornication, homosexuality, and drug abuse, which can have detrimental effects on their well-being.
