The Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board (UBTEB) has revealed that 58,995 candidates have been registered for the July/August 2024 examination series. This record number of participants underscores the growing importance and reach of technical and vocational education in Uganda.
The examinations, which began on August 2, 2024, will continue until August 30, 2024, across 454 examination centres nationwide. Of the total candidates, 18,742 are female and 40,253 are male.
UBTEB Executive Secretary Onesmus Oyesigye (CPA) highlighted the Board’s commitment to inclusivity by noting that 76 candidates with special needs will receive tailored support, including sign language interpreters and transcribers. Special arrangements will be made to ensure these candidates can fully participate in their assessments.
In preparation for the exams, UBTEB conducted a briefing for Area Coordinators and Centre Supervisors on July 26, 2024. Additionally, examination materials are being distributed with the assistance of the Uganda Police Force, starting August 3, 2024.
To combat examination malpractices, UBTEB has emphasized the importance of vigilance and adherence to examination rules. The Board has also deployed over 600 Reconnoiters and monitors, alongside 4,000 Practical Assessors, to ensure the integrity of the examination process.
With a significant decrease in examination, malpractices noted this year, UBTEB continues its efforts to maintain high standards of examination conduct and uphold the quality of technical and vocational education assessments in Uganda.
