The Dean of Nyakibale Deanery, Rev. Fr. Dr. Julius Turyatooranwa, has urged married couples to prioritize love and patience as the foundation for a lifelong and fulfilling marriage.
He made these remarks on Saturday during a mass celebrating the renewal of the matrimonial vows of Mr. Kashumbusha Lawrence Tycoon and Mrs. Monica Kashimbusha, who were marking 33 years of marriage.
Fr. Julius emphasized that love and patience are the backbone of strong families, cautioning that marriages lacking these qualities often fail. He expressed concern about the rising rate of divorce in Uganda, particularly among young couples, attributing it to impatience and materialism.
He encouraged parents to instill moral values in their children, equipping them to face life’s challenges, especially in marriage. Fr. Julius also underscored the importance of prayer in family life, asserting that “a family that prays together stays together.”
During his homily, he commended Mr. and Mrs. Tycoon for honoring their matrimonial vows and remaining committed to each other, setting a valuable example for young Christians.
Mr. Tycoon described marriage as a lifelong journey filled with both challenges and joys. He highlighted the importance of patience, love, and forgiveness in overcoming difficulties. He advised young couples to focus on these virtues to sustain their marriages.
