Territorial police in Kisoro district have arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of their biological father, Silver Mushabe, 59, a resident of Igobero cell, Nombe parish, Rubuguri town council. The suspects, identified as Davis Halerimana, 20, a bricklayer, and Kenneth Tukamuhabwa, 20, a student at Rutaka Community Secondary School, are both residents of the same area.
According to reports, the tragic incident occurred on October 20, 2024, at around 8:00 PM. It is alleged that Halerimana, along with two others, fatally attacked his father, accusing him of failing to pay dowry to his in-laws, which led to his wife being taken back by her parents.
The victim had reportedly sold his land, and his son had been demanding the money to bring back his wife. The situation escalated, leading to the brutal murder. After the attack, Mushabe’s body was dumped in a swamp. Police were alerted, and the crime scene was visited, processed, and documented. The body was later recovered and a postmortem was conducted.
The two suspects are currently in custody, assisting police with further investigations. ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson, confirmed that inquiries are ongoing.
