Musiimenta Keredonia Bakironda, the Rukungiri District Secretary for Education, Commercial Services, and Tourism, has urged Primary Seven candidates to remain focused and prepared for the upcoming Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE). She made these remarks yesterday, October 23, 2024, at Yakobo Rikwera Buhandagazi Primary School during a farewell ceremony for the school’s candidates who will sit for their PLE in November.

Bakironda condemned examination malpractice, advising the candidates to trust in their efforts, rely on God, and use the remaining time wisely by revising and consulting their teachers. She also emphasized the importance of education in eradicating ignorance and backwardness and in advancing the enlightenment of Ugandans.

Atwongyera Aron Kashillingi, the school’s Primary Seven class teacher, assured those in attendance that the teachers have done everything possible to prepare the candidates for the PLE. He noted that the syllabus has already been completed, and they are now guiding the students through revision sessions.

Muhwezi Moses, the head teacher, shared that 11 candidates are ready to sit for the PLE this year. He highlighted that these will be the first candidates to sit for the exams since the school was established in 2015. However, he added that the COVID-19 pandemic hindered the school’s growth.

Enoth Bijoki, the School Management Committee Chairperson, praised the school’s progress, mentioning key developments such as access to groundwater, which has helped the school function smoothly. However, he noted that the school still needs at least two 10,000-liter water tanks to improve water access.

Students Ahumuza Jonathan and Kyarikunda Elizabeth expressed their determination to excel in the PLE as the school’s pioneer candidates. They shared that they are actively revising their books, seeking guidance from teachers, and participating in discussion groups to prepare their minds for the exams.
