Two patients who had been quarantined at Kisoro Hospital’s isolation center have tested negative for monkeypox, according to Dr. Emmanuel Bahane, the Medical Superintendent of the hospital.

The patients’ samples were collected on Monday and analyzed by the Uganda National Health Laboratory Services (CPHL) in Kampala, with the results confirming that they are not infected with the virus.

Despite the negative results, Dr. Bahane emphasized that the patients will continue to be closely monitored by health workers, who will manage any remaining symptoms. Kisoro Hospital, which screens over 200 suspected cases daily, has been on high alert for monkeypox, with many patients presenting with symptoms such as a painful rash, enlarged lymph nodes, fever, headache, muscle aches, back pain, and low energy.

The hospital’s vigilance is part of the broader efforts to ensure public health safety amid concerns about the spread of the virus in the region.
