KANUNGU-The territorial police of Kanungu have two suspects in custody suspected to have strangled their relative to death.
The suspects are; Barnabas Tumwesigye 45 years a biological son to the deceased and his son Francis Kanyesigye, who are alleged to have murdered one Kyitaragabirwe Vangilista 72 yrs old, all residents of Nyarushanje village Muramba Parish Rutenga sub county Kanungu district, on the yesterday at about 11:00 am at the above village.
It’s alleged that on Saturday at around 08:00 am, the deceased left home while looking for people to buy her eucalyptus trees and at around 10:00am the grand son Francis Kanyesigye approached her pretending to be the buyer and they went together in the eucalyptus trees to check the trees for buying.
Later on, the grandson went to their nearest trading center and started telling people that he found her grandmother died in her eucalyptus trees.
The community members rushed to the scene and found the victim dead with strangulation marks on the neck and became suspicious because the deceased had a land conflict with the son.
Police was informed, the crime scene was visited and processed, and the body was examined at the crime scene and later handed over to the relatives for a decent burial.
That’s when the two suspects were arrested and detained to help in the investigation.
