KISORO-Kyanika grade one court in Cyanika town council, Kisoro district has been opened to handle civil cases from Bufumbira south constituency.
According to the memo, signed by the Magistrate of Kyanika Grade One Court, His Worship Muchelula Dismus, only civil, land, and family cases from all town councils and sub-counties of Bufumbira South will be processed at the court for the time being.
It states that Criminal cases will continue to be handled at the Kisoro Chief Magistrate Court.
When approached by our reporter, Myres Tisaasa, the Supervisor of the Kisoro District Chief Magistrate Court, explained that the Kyanika Grade One Court is currently unable to handle criminal cases due to a lack of a state attorney.
Tisaasa further highlighted that the Kyanika court will continue to operate under the jurisdiction of the Kisoro Chief Magistrate Court because it does not possess a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) number, credible police presence, or prison facilities.
Tisaasa also mentioned that residents in Bunagana Town Council and its vicinity will be utilizing Kyanika Court for several months while they await the completion of Bunagana Grade One Court premises, which is expected to take over a month.
