The NRM Election Disputes Tribunal has dismissed a petition challenging the victory of Turyahikayo Kebirungi Mary Paula as the NRM flag bearer for Woman Member of Parliament in Rukungiri District.
The petition, filed by Nuwagaba Annah Tumuramye, alleged widespread electoral malpractices, including voter bribery, intimidation, creation of illegal polling stations, and expulsion of her agents from polling stations during the July 17, 2025 primaries.
In its ruling, the Tribunal found that although several irregularities were alleged, the Petitioner failed to provide sufficient evidence such as sworn affidavits, tally sheets, or witness testimonies to substantiate the claims. The panel noted that the 43,845-vote margin between the two candidates meant that even if irregularities existed, they did not substantially affect the outcome.
The Tribunal therefore upheld the declaration of Mary Paula Turyahikayo as the duly elected NRM flag bearer and dismissed the petition.
