As the NRM Delegates Conference unfolds today, we recognize and appreciate the service of our senior leaders — men and women who have played a central role in building this party and country. Their legacy matters.

But legacy is not just about holding on — it’s also about letting go, about mentoring and preparing the next generation. Sadly, what we are witnessing today tells a different story.

Many of our leaders, already holding multiple positions and advanced in age, continue to dominate the leadership space. Worse still, some are using their wealth to buy delegates and secure positions at any cost — not because of performance or vision, but simply to hold on to power.

This practice not only sidelines young, capable Ugandans who are ready to lead, but it also weakens the party from within. It breeds corruption, kills merit, and threatens the future of the very institutions our elders fought to build.

To our beloved delegates: yes, eat the money — after all, it’s yours as a citizen. But when it comes time to vote, vote wisely. Vote for leaders with a track record, a clear vision, and the ability to carry the party and the country forward. Not those who are simply recycling themselves with envelopes.

Uganda belongs to all of us — young and old. Let’s build a party and a nation that reflects that truth.

Respectfully,
