In a devastating incident that sent shockwaves through the community, a fatal motorcycle accident claimed the life of a respected army officer on the evening of May 1st, 2024. The victim, identified as Warrant Officer One Kamugisha Ramazan, aged 49, was a dedicated member of the Nyakabande 35 Battalion, residing in Kisoro district.

The accident occurred at approximately 8:30 PM local time in Busamba village, Southern Division of Kisoro municipality, along the Kisoro Chanika road. According to initial reports from the police, WO1 Kamugisha was returning to the Nyakabande 35 Battalion barracks from Kisoro town when the tragic incident unfolded.

Eyewitnesses recounted that as Kamugisha approached a corner in the road within Busamba village, he lost control of his red TVS Star motorcycle, resulting in a fatal fall. The impact of the accident caused severe head and chest injuries to the rider.

Promptly responding to the scene, concerned citizens rushed Kamugisha to Kisoro Hospital for emergency medical attention. However, due to the gravity of his injuries, he was swiftly transferred to Mutolere Hospital. Tragically, despite the efforts of medical personnel, Kamugisha succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at Mutolere Hospital.

A postmortem examination was conducted at Mutolere Hospital to determine the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, authorities have taken possession of the motorcycle involved in the accident, which is currently held at the Kisoro Central Police Station pending further investigation by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV).

Law enforcement officials visited the scene of the accident, where they meticulously gathered evidence and created a detailed sketch map to aid in their inquiries.
