Police in Mitooma district are hunting for an identified man who hacked a 64-year-old woman to death.
Tukamuhebwa Margaret, a traditional herbalist and resident of Kabahesi village, Rubirizi parish in Nyakizinga was cut to death at her home on the night of 14th June 2023 at around 9:30 pm.
According to information obtained by our reporters, on 14th June while the deceased and her daughter were sleeping, there came an unknown man who called the deceased to open the door that his child was sick and was directed by Agasha Sadness commonly known as Kyakabare so that the deceased could give him herbs for the sick child.
The deceased opened the door and gave him some herbs in exchange for Ugx 5,000.
However, a few minutes later, while the deceased was with the Suspect outside in the compound, the daughter of the deceased heard her mother making an alarm which prompted her to get out and found her being cut by the suspect. She made an alarm and the suspect took off.
The deceased was rushed to Ntungamo specialist medical center for treatment but she was later pronounced dead.
The Greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson SP Martial Tumusiime confirmed the incident stressing that inquiries have been instituted at Mitooma CPS under reference number CRB:389/2023.
Tumusiime told our reporter that the crime scene was visited by a team of detectives from CPS Mitooma led by the district CID officer and the district SOCO who examined, documented, and recorded statements from relevant witnesses.
