At least 3 billion shillings have been spent on various government projects in Kisoro district for the financial year 2022/23, excluding roads, according to RDC Hajji Shafique Sekandi.
Sekandi made this announcement on Thursday from his office, marking the completion of his district-wide tour to commission and handing over finished government projects to the respective communities.
The projects encompassed a range of initiatives, such as water supply projects valued at over 277 million shillings, educational infrastructure including classroom blocks, VIP latrines, and administration offices.
Additionally, livestock and seed supplies worth 492 million shillings were distributed.
RDC Sekandi commended the collective efforts of the Kisoro district council and other leaders who have worked tirelessly to ensure the successful implementation of these projects.
Hajji Sekandi stated that during his tour, he also monitored ongoing government projects, conducted sensitization programs for locals regarding the parish development model, and assessed the progress made by the government in fulfilling the NRM’s 2021/26 manifesto program.
He observed a significant improvement in the district’s operations, leading to its top ranking in terms of government fund absorption during the previous financial year.
He expressed confidence that Kisoro district would maintain this position in the current financial year as well.
