The territorial police in Kabale have apprehended three suspects who were on their wanted list in connection with a series of recent aggravated robberies within Kabale Municipality. The arrests were made during an intelligence-led operation conducted early this morning at the suspects’ respective residences.
The first suspect, Mugarura Joshua, 20, a resident of Kabisha Cell, Mwendo Parish, Kitumba Sub-county in Kabale District, was arrested at approximately 7:00 a.m. During interrogation, Joshua reportedly revealed the identities and locations of his two accomplices. This led to the subsequent arrests of Niwamanya Junior, 18, a resident of Pida Cell, Upper Bugongi Ward, Southern Division, Kabale Municipality/District, and Taremwa Ronald, 20, a resident of Kaburara Cell, Mwendo Parish, Kitumba Sub-county, Kabale District.
Upon Joshua’s arrest, police discovered a smartphone in his possession containing several images of phones and laptops. It is alleged that Joshua would photograph the stolen items and send the pictures to an accomplice in Mbarara, who would then find buyers for the goods.
Authorities have confirmed that operations to apprehend the remaining suspects are ongoing. Efforts are being made to ensure all individuals linked to the robberies are arrested and charged accordingly. Once investigations are complete, the suspects will be arraigned in court to face charges related to their alleged crimes.
ASP Elly Maate, the Public Relations Officer for Kigezi Region, provided the details of the operation and assured the public of continued efforts to combat crime in the area.
