Police in Kisoro District are currently investigating the tragic circumstances surrounding the untimely death of an eighteen-year-old Rwandan national who was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Chahafi town council.
The deceased has been identified as Dushimimana Paskali, an 18-year-old Rwandan citizen. According to Kisoro RDC Hajji Shafiq Ssekandi, the incident occurred on Wednesday night at Ghetto trading center, situated near the Rwanda-Uganda border in Mupaka cell, southern ward, Chahafi town council.
At the scene, police discovered a motor vehicle pick-up registered under reg no. UAU 063F, which was found loaded with minerals, leading investigators to suspect that the deceased may have been involved in smuggling.
The body of Dushimimana Paskali has been taken to Kisoro Hospital for a postmortem examination, while the police continue their thorough investigation into the matter.
It has been revealed that the parents of the deceased have arrived in Uganda to repatriate their son’s remains for a proper burial in their home country.
In light of this tragic event, Kisoro RDC Hajji Shafiq Ssekandi strongly advises residents from both Rwanda and Uganda to utilize designated and authorized border crossings, avoiding any involvement in smuggling activities due to the associated negative consequences.
