State Minister for Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives, Hon. David Bahati, joined Christians at Rwanyena Catholic Parish in Kabale Diocese on Sunday for a fundraising Mass aimed at raising UGX 94 million for the completion of the Terazo project at Our Lady of Assumption Rwanyena Catholic Church.
The Mass, led by parish priest Fr. Deusdedit Musinguzi, brought together community members in a collective effort to support the Terazo project, a key initiative intended to foster spiritual growth and development within the area. Minister Bahati’s presence underscored his commitment to supporting community-driven projects that enhance social welfare and economic development.
During his address, Bahati emphasized the critical role of community collaboration in achieving shared goals, particularly in eradicating poverty. “Poverty is a bad thing,” he stated. “Even if you have good messages, without money, it means nothing.” His remarks resonated with the congregation, reinforcing the need for financial stability in both individual and communal progress.
Additionally, Bahati addressed concerns over school management practices requiring parents to contribute money for essential services. He deemed this practice unacceptable and reiterated the government’s stance on free education, stating that parents should only be responsible for providing food, books, and pens for their children. He pledged to engage school management on the matter to ensure compliance with the government’s education policy.
The fundraising effort successfully collected over UGX 33 million of the targeted UGX 94 million, marking significant progress towards the project’s completion. Once finished, the Terazo project is expected to serve as a vital resource for the spiritual and social development of the community.
