St Raphael Secondary School Nyakanyinya today marked a historic day with the inauguration of the Mother Virgin Mary shrine, the closing of the retreat conference, and the welcoming of Senior One and Senior Five students.
Rev. Father Januario Ndyanabangi, Assistant Priest of Nyakibale Catholic Parish and Chaplain of the school, challenged the public to stop misinterpreting veneration of the Virgin Mary as adoration. Speaking during the mass, Father Januario encouraged students to embrace prayers for healing and protection through venerating the Mother Virgin Mary across the shrine, urging them to ignore criticism and focus on spiritual recognition.
School Director Jones Bekunda expressed his excitement at fulfilling his dream of establishing the shrine and emphasized its role as a spiritual guide for his family and the school community. He called on students to use the shrine as a source of strength to overcome challenges and achieve quality academic results.
Parents Mujuruzi Kanyamukwara and Jaduresi Tusiime welcomed the shrine, highlighting its importance in instilling Christian values and providing a conducive environment for student prayers and protection.
Students Maria Gorreti Kiconco and Peter Amiina celebrated the inauguration, describing the school as a blessed land that fosters spiritual growth.
During the welcoming of new students, Director Jones Bekunda also condemned the rising wave of corruption, which he noted has begun affecting students. He urged them to uphold discipline and warned against tolerating indiscipline in the community.
