A scuffle erupted at Bushenyi Magistrates Court on Friday between journalists and court officials when journalists were denied access to cover an assault case involving a local pastor of Devine Ministries Bushenyi.
Pastor Edson Tibategyeza, 44, a resident of Central Cell, Central Division in Bushenyi Ishaka Municipality, allegedly committed the
offense on January 4, 2024, in Bushenyi town.
The Grade One Court, presided over by Halima Omar Ahamed, heard that the pastor assaulted Twinomugisha Godfrey, a businessman, and chairman of LCII Central Ward in Bushenyi Ishaka Municipality.
Halima stated that since the case file has not been assigned, the suspect will be remanded until March 12, 2024, when he is scheduled to appear in court for mention.
It’s worth noting that the police, along with Deputy RDC Bushenyi Williams Katsigazi, raided the church premises and arrested the pastor on allegations of obtaining money through false pretenses.
