Bishop Rt Rev Onesimus Asiimwe of North Kigezi Diocese has criticized church leaders for their deceptive behavior, stating that the lack of genuine transformation among the people is due to the prevalence of pretense within the church itself.

During his pastoral visit to All Saints Parish Nyakariro in Bugangari Archdeaconry, Rukungiri district, Bishop Asiimwe addressed the congregation, expressing concern that many church leaders, despite their outward appearance of piety in roles such as ministers, Mothers’ Union and Fathers’ Union members, committee heads, and canons, are hypocrites whose sinful actions undermine the message of salvation.

He emphasized the need for a genuine pursuit of salvation within churches, lamenting that some individuals prefer messages of hope over the true gospel of salvation. He warned that without the authentic message of salvation, many would face spiritual peril, despite their contributions to church activities such as building projects.

Sr. Florence Rwabahima, head of the laity at Nyakariro All Saints Church, echoed Bishop Asiimwe’s concerns, noting a troubling trend of gossip, fornication, and general sinfulness within the congregation, which detracts from the church’s purpose as a sanctuary for solace.

During the visit, Bishop Asiimwe confirmed approximately 120 Christians into the Anglican faith, urging especially the younger members to embrace obedience and seek God as their ultimate savior.
