Jonan Tukwasikane, Coordinator of the Kabale Municipal Council Primary Schools Football and Netball Tournament, has urged schools to emphasize sports in their co-curricular activities for effective talent development.
Tukwasikane made this appeal today while releasing the fixtures for this year’s tournament semifinalists in both football and netball. He highlighted that, aside from helping to prevent non-communicable diseases, sports can also create career opportunities, as some individuals secure jobs through their athletic achievements.
In the football semifinals, God’s Favor Nursery and Primary School will compete against Nyabikoni Primary School, while Kabale Junior Primary School will face Kigezi High Lower Primary School. In netball, Child Africa Primary School will go up against Kabale Preparatory School, and God’s Favor Nursery and Primary School will play Makanga Primary School.
The semifinals and finals are scheduled for tomorrow (Friday this week). Out of 45 primary schools in Kabale Municipality, only one did not participate in this year’s tournament due to late registration.
