The authorities of Kebisoni Savings and Credit Cooperative (SACCO) have initiated a four-day program to visit branches and select delegates, aiming to streamline customer service processes. On Wednesday, the SACCO authorities visited Nyamunuka town council in Ntungamo district, where they appointed delegates to represent members in upcoming annual general meetings.
During the event, the Financial Extension Worker from the Uganda Cooperatives Savings and Credit Union (UCSCU), serving as the day’s facilitator, emphasized the importance of having delegates in matured SACCOs. He explained that delegates play a crucial role in facilitating communication between SACCO authorities and members, serving as messengers.
The facilitator pointed out that a matured SACCO without delegates tends to be disorganized, particularly during annual general meetings, where planning becomes challenging without confirmed member numbers.
The Vice Board Chairperson of Kebisoni SACCO, Rev. Enock Karamuzi, shared key statistics about the SACCO’s growth, including a membership of 8,065, savings amounting to 3,739,609,732, share capital of 2,251,069,666, and a loan portfolio of 9,361,920,261. He stressed the need for delegates to facilitate effective communication within the SACCO, acknowledging the challenges posed by members defaulting on loans, impacting overall SACCO performance.
Abias Muhiirwe, the SACCO General Manager, highlighted various products offered by the SACCO, such as boda boda loans, home improvement loans, asset acquisition loans, and school fees loans—especially crucial during the back-to-school season.
