The Registrar of cooperatives in the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives Bob Bariyo Barigye on Friday 14th October 2022 disbanded the Board and Technical Staff of Rwenshaka SACCO limited in Ruhinda Sub County, Rukungiri District.
The Board Members were Chairperson Bekunda Jones,Vice chairperson Batungire Daphine, Secretary Kalibobo Innocent, Vice Secretary Byaruhanga Charles, Treasurer Kangaho James, Joy Kamanda, Muhwezi Godfrey, Begumisa Alex and Katushabe Ruth Members.
Supervisory Committee members were Chairperson Nkabigumira Francis and Katushabe Brendah.
Loans Committee was Chaired by Batungire Daphine and Joy Kamanda.
Vetting Committee was chaired by Nabaasa Eric, Baine George and Byabagambi Dinavence whereas technical staff was Manager Musimenta Fred, cashier Muhumuza Alex, Security guard Twijukye George and cleaner Barberwa Josephine.

They were replaced by Chairperson Mugarura Henry, Vice chairperson Kakore Emmanuel, Natuhwera Moses, Musinguzi Wycliff, Erasmas Akankwatsa, Arinaitwe Peter Kariveeri, Paul Kabahango and Byamukama Polytazi supervised by the chairperson LC3, SubCounty chief and Area GISO.
The team was dismissed during a general meeting held at Ruhinda Sub County headquarters chaired by the Registrar Bob Bariyo Barigye who was petitioned by the concerned clients and residents of Ruhinda Sub County headed by the chairperson LC3 Ms Hellen Kabajungu.
The clients accused the team of reporting false cash flows, swindling money, selling SACCO properties without clients consent and altering general meeting minutes among others which prompted the clients to petition the registrar for intervention.
The Ruhinda LC3 chairperson Hellen Kabajungu noted that the SACCO had 2700 shareholders who pooled millions as share capital in addition to the 100 million that was donated by the president but she was disappointed by client’s failure to withdraw their savings adding that her 500,000 was also stolen from her account which opted her to seek guidance from authorities.
Registrar Bob Bariyo Barigye accused them of negligence and dismissed them with immediate effect, and ordered for arrest of any employee who had ever worked at Rwenshaka SACCO and departed with debt saying his office is ready to support them in revamping the SACCO.
The Chairperson Board Bekunda blamed technical staff for the shortcomings.
