Over Shillings 190 million was yesterday raised at a fundraising function for St Andrews Nyarushanje catholic parish in Nyarushanje Subcounty Rukungiri district.
The function was presided over by The Prime Minister of the Republic of Uganda Rt Hon Robbinah Nabbanja who rallied the people of Nyarushanje and Rukungiri at large to support the NRM government saying it is development oriented.
Rt Hon Nabbaja represented the Vice President Her excellency Retired Major Jesca Alipo at the function organized to raise funds to roof the new Nyarushanje parish catholic church structure that is under construction.
Nyarushanje parish started the construction of a new church estimated to cost over 2.5 billion shillings in 2013 which and over 1.6 bn has so far been used.
Hon Robbinah Nabbanja who contributed 21 million, commended the political leaders of Rukungiri district for promoting quality leadership in the district and asked people of Nyarushanje to trust in NRM government because it fronts development.
The Area Member of Parliament Hon Namanya Naboth revealed that he is committed to develop the place that made him what he is today.
The former Area Member of Parliament Hon Mary Paula Turyahikayo who currently serves as the director of Uganda Broadcasting Company (UBC), appreciated the clergy for steering the development of the area and expressed her commitment towards the development of the area.
