Reverend Richard Kwehangaana of Rwanyanja Parish, Bugangari Archdeaconry, North Kigezi Diocese, has commended the Christians under his parish for their unwavering dedication to the development of both their churches and the diocese.
Rev. Kwehangaana expressed his gratitude during a thanksgiving service held at St. Paul’s Church of Uganda, Rwanyanja Parish, which was attended by members from all churches in the parish, including Nyaruharo Church of Uganda, Kateera Mpungu, Kajenjero, Rugarama, and Rwanyanja Church of Uganda.
He mentioned that he was posted to Rwanyanja Parish a year and three months ago, when the parish faced significant challenges, including delayed payment of the quarter contributions and a debt amounting to 149 million shillings. Rev. Kwehangaana emphasized that he had called upon the Christians to work hard to clear this debt, and they had been making payments in installments since last year. By yesterday, only 7 million shillings remained unpaid.
The purpose of the thanksgiving service was to raise the remaining 7 million shillings, and Rev. Kwehangaana joyfully announced that the community had exceeded their goal, collecting a total of 9,328,600 shillings. He encouraged the congregation to maintain their commitment to supporting God’s work.
Mr. Kwesiga Boaz Ruteera, the head of laity for Bugangari Archdeaconry, praised both the Christians and Rev. Kwehangaana for their dedication to God’s work. He noted that in all his years as the head of laity, the parish had never managed to clear its quarter obligations before Christmas. However, since Rev. Kwehangaana’s arrival, the situation had improved, leading to smoother operations and progress for both the parish and the diocese.
He further encouraged the congregation to engage in coffee farming, which is one of the Bishop’s initiatives. Mr. Ruteera highlighted that coffee farming would not only support church development but also improve the well-being of families.
Steven Mujeere, the Lay Leader for Rwanyanja Parish, also applauded Rev. Kwehangaana, Mr. Boaz Ruteera, and the Christian community for their teamwork and shared commitment to development. He urged the congregation to maintain their dedication, not only to church projects but also to their personal initiatives for their overall well-being.
