The Head Teacher of Rwabukoba Secondary School, Mr. Erick Sabiiti, has advised new Senior One students to be cautious about the influence of bad peer groups, warning that such associations could jeopardize their future.
He delivered this message on Saturday, February 8, 2025, while officiating at the celebrations and awards ceremony for the best-performing students in last year’s Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) at Kashenyi Primary School in Ruhinda Sub County, Rukungiri District.
Mr. Sabiiti commended the school for its remarkable performance, emphasizing that achieving a first grade is not an easy feat. He encouraged the students to advance to secondary school and avoid destructive behaviors such as alcohol consumption, drug abuse, and prostitution, which are often influenced by bad peer groups.
Venerable Edson Muhairwe, the Archdeacon of Kashenyi Archdeaconry in North Kigezi Diocese, expressed gratitude for the students’ excellent performance. He urged both students and parents to prioritize local schools, emphasizing that academic success is a blessing from God and is not solely determined by a school’s prestige or high fees.
Immaculate Nduhukire Mwesigwe, the Vice Chairperson of the School Management Committee, praised God for the school’s success. She noted that the excellent results disproved skeptics who had opposed the deployment of the current headteacher. She encouraged parents to enroll their children in affordable schools to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted education.
Asaph Tugume, the Vice Chairperson of the PTA, commended the cooperation between parents and the school, which he credited for the outstanding performance. He called for continued support to transform Kashenyi Primary School into a model institution within the sub-county.
The school’s Head teacher, Enock Ahebwe, attributed the success to a dedicated teaching staff, supportive parents, the church, the Community Development Committee (CDC), and Kashenyi Secondary School. He assured stakeholders of continued improvement in academic performance.
Comfort Natukwatsa, the outgoing students’ representative, applauded the school’s commitment to providing comprehensive learning materials, which have played a key role in enhancing education quality.
Kashenyi Primary School registered 30 candidates for the 2024 PLE, with one student scoring a first grade, 24 earning second grade, and five obtaining third grade.
