The Rukungiri district Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Natukunda Midius Kaharata has advised women to start up small businesses and embrace agriculture if they are to increase their household income.
She made these remarks while addressing women from Kabwooma and Kahoko parishes in Nyakagyeme sub-county after training them in Liquid soap making as a skill that will improve their family income.
The training took place at Nyamifura church of Uganda in the Nyakagyeme sub-county and over 30 women attended the training.
Hon Natukunda revealed that these small-scale projects will help them to get little capital than going to borrow in banks, Saccos, and small saving groups where some end up failing to pay.
The legislator so far has trained over 10 different women groups in sub-counties of Nyarushanje, Nyakagyeme, Bugangari, Buyanja, and Rwerere town council among others and she revealed that soon other groups will be also brought on board.
Annet Twinamastiko on behalf of women who were trained in soap making thanked the legislator for remembering the electorates as training will help them to be job creators than job seekers.
She added that the skill of liquid soap making will reduce expenses in their families since they will use their own made soap and again get an income after selling it to boost their families and educate their children.
Rev Amos Musinguzi the Nyamufura church of Uganda parish priest thanked the Rukungiri woman Legislator for considering their letter positively and accepting to fix time to train them in Liquid soap making.
He said it’s good to find that women can also do some activities which can generate income without putting all the eyes on their husbands.
