Seven students of Lango College in Lira City on Sunday survived an accident along Ishaka Kasese road.
The single serious accident involved a motor vehicle registration number UAV 128c Isuzu bus white color belonging to Lango College being driven by George Opio 45 years.
Macial Tumusiime the greater Bushenyi police spokesperson identified the seven students as Hariet Ario Angela 18years, Ritah Arobo,19 years, Ibrahim Okeford 19 years, Recheal Akello, Tracy Apio, Jonathan Omara, and Pamela Denis.
Tumusiime said the accident happened at Nkombe at the border of Bushenyi and Rubirizi Districts.
It’s alleged that the bus was carrying students and teachers coming from Lira via Hoima, Fort Portal Kasese road heading to Kabale District for a school competition.
Tumusiime said upon reaching Nkombe Hill on Kasese Ishaka highway the driver tried to engage gear as was climbing the hill, it developed a mechanical fault in the crutch, and it started moving in reverse, swerved from left to right, and entered into water drainage.
The students were all evacuated from the scene end rushed to Comboni Hospital Kyamuhunga for treatment.
