The legislator for Rukungiri municipality, Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa, has announced that there are plans to extend electricity to all villages within the municipality. This initiative follows a report from the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, outlining the coordinates for the placement of electric poles.

Dr. Rutahigwa disclosed that ministry officials surveyed areas without electricity last year, and with the mapping completed, they are now awaiting the commencement of the project. He emphasized that this electricity extension will contribute to the overall transformation of various locations within the municipality.

The legislator made these comments during the funeral of a 9-year-old boy, Gumisiriza Emmanuel, the son of Marvelous and Emmanuel Mugisha, residents of Rwabuteneka in the eastern division of Rukungiri municipality. Dr. Rutahigwa expressed condolences to the grieving family, highlighting the tragedy of losing a child at such a young age.

According to the parents, the deceased had recently been promoted to the second grade at Rweyangi Primary School in Buyanja sub-county. His illness began with stomach pain, leading to his deterioration and eventual admission to Nyakibale Hospital, where he passed away.

The mother of the deceased was a member of the Boona FM Team No Sleep Tumanyane Group. Nicholas Kahogote, the chairperson of Boona FM Team No Sleep Tumanyane Association, urged mourners to consider joining community groups, emphasizing the support and comfort such groups provide during both challenging and joyous times.

Richard Behangana, the head of catechists at Nyakibale Parish, offered words of wisdom and comfort to the grieving family and mourners. He reminded them that everyone has a predetermined day to die, even though some may question God for taking people at a young age. Behangana encouraged people to place their trust in God rather than earthly things, noting that God is the creator and controller of life on earth. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of respecting church representatives and wardens, as they serve as a connection to church leaders in times of need.
