Residents of Rwazina 1 and Rwazina 2 villages in Nyakyera Town Council, Ntungamo district, have expressed their dismay over the deteriorating condition of the Rwazina-Nyakyera road.
They assert that the sorry state of the road is adversely affecting the transportation of people, goods, and services in the region.
Seith Ruzira, a resident of Ngomba ward, informed our reporter that recent heavy rains have significantly damaged the Rwazina-Nyakyera road, making it challenging for transportation. Emphasizing the road’s importance, he highlighted its role in connecting the Kiziba and Ngomba wards to Nyakyera Town. Ruzira noted that farmers rely on this road to transport their agricultural produce to Nyakyera and Ntungamo for sale.
Ruzira also shared the residents’ struggles in reaching Nyakyera for essential services such as healthcare, education, and accessing the market.
The mayor of Nyakyera Town Council, Mr. Nganwa Kenneth Rubatuhuura, expressed the authorities’ concern about the situation and pledged to take necessary actions to address the challenge. However, he pointed out that the impact of heavy rains affected almost all roads in the town council, and the road fund was reduced accordingly. Nganwa urged the public to be patient as the authorities are exerting efforts to solve the issues related to the poor road conditions.
