18 individuals in Kajara County, Ntungamo District, have officially expressed their interest in running for the position of Member of Parliament (MP).
Notable candidates include Twamuhabwa Wilson Kadidi, a former Ministry of Finance advisor, Hunter James Byenjeru Tukahiirwa from the Ministry of Health, Muhwezi Deusi Rwambikana from the Ministry of Agriculture, Masiko Reuben Muhumuza from Google, and Dr. Godwin Atwiine, a lecturer at Team University.
Other contenders in the race are former county legislator Steven Tashobya, ASP Eliakim Carson, Byamugusha Hamida Login, and ASP Aweera Steven.
In a recent interview with our reporter, Hunter James Byenjeru Tukahiirwa, one of the aspirants, affirmed his unwavering decision to run, citing his commitment to addressing various challenges in the constituency such as poor road infrastructure, widespread water scarcity, lack of electricity, and subpar academic standards in schools, among other issues.
Twamuhabwa Wilson Kadidi, another aspirant, emphasized his capacity to lead in a people-centered manner, expressing his determination to contribute to the development of the constituency.
Additionally, the current County’s MP, Hon. Michael Timuzigu, has publicly declared that he will not be seeking re-election in 2026.
