The call was led by Kyamakanda C.O.U Archdeacon Can. Rev. Policap Katwesigye while preaching during the burial ceremony of the former Kyamakanda Technical Institute farm manager, Andrew Busingye, whose body was laid to rest Wednesday afternoon at his home in Nyakiina Ward, Buyanja Sub-county, Rukungiri District.

Rev. Katwesigye urged mourners to be good examples and positive images in the community, like the late Busingye, by embracing love, cooperation, and unity. He emphasized the importance of working together for community progress.

According to a speech by the deceased’s wife, Immaculate Busingye, on November 11, 2024, her husband suffered from an unknown infection. By mid-February, he developed leg pain and was taken to Rugarama Hospital. However, he continued experiencing abdominal pain and was later transferred to Nyakibaale Hospital, where he showed slight improvement. On Tuesday, March 4, at the start of the Lent fasting period, he asked her to begin fasting.

Despite initial recovery, his condition worsened, and he was taken back to Nyakibaale Hospital, where doctors recommended surgery. After an unsuccessful treatment, he was referred to Mbarara Referral Hospital. When his condition did not improve, he bid farewell to his wife and passed away.

She thanked relatives and friends for their support during the difficult time and appreciated the mourners for their unity, cooperation, and love.

His children, while speaking at their father’s burial, expressed their disappointment over his untimely death, which came before he could fulfill his promises and family dreams. They described him as a smart, peaceful, intelligent, and caring man. They pledged to uphold his legacy and protect his name and integrity forever.

Speaking on behalf of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), which is led by Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Kurikayo James Bruce expressed sympathy and compassion over the loss of Andrew Busingye. He described him as an intelligent and hardworking man who was patriotic to his country. He also noted that Busingye’s daughter, Lisa Comfort, is a member of the PLU team.

Rukungiri District LC5 Chairperson Geoffrey Kyomukama attended the ceremony, expressing sympathy and compassion for the deceased’s family. He comforted and thanked the widow for her patience and faith during this difficult time. Additionally, he commended the deceased’s clan for their commitment to supporting and uplifting his children.

Kyomukama also announced the introduction of two universities in Rukungiri District in partnership with the Church, Kabale University, and the Ministry of Education and Sports. He stated that Rukungiri PTC College will be transformed into a university set to open in August, and another university will be established in Nyarushanje Pro-Technical. He urged mourners to take advantage of this opportunity to educate their children and promote local businesses.
