The State Minister for Public Service, Grace Mary Mugasa Akiiki, together with Bushenyi District leaders, officially commissioned the Warugo Water Project aimed at improving access to clean and safe water in the district.

The UGX 11.8 billion project was implemented by the National Water and Sewerage Corporation.
While commissioning the facility, Minister Mugasa urged residents to take good care of the project to ensure they fully benefit from it. She emphasized that access to safe water is vital for improving personal and family hygiene, which ultimately enhances public health in the community.

The Bushenyi Area Manager for National Water, Sam Kigundu, noted that the Warugo Water Project, which commenced in February 2024, has increased water coverage in the district from 35% to 85% within a year. The project includes approximately 21 kilometers of pipeline.

Meanwhile, Bushenyi District Woman Member of Parliament, Annet Katusiime Mugisha, thanked the government for extending such a major development to the area. She said improved water access will greatly benefit women, who often bear the burden of fetching water for their households.

At the local level, Tumuhirwe Adinan, a councilor representing Kakanju Sub-county, commended Hon. Annet Katusiime Mugisha and the National Water and Sewerage Corporation for lobbying for the project. He noted that the initiative will improve family hygiene and save residents the time previously spent walking long distances to fetch water.
