The Rukungiri Producer Cooperative Society Union has launched a five-day training program to equip youth and adults with various skills, including vocational and advanced agricultural practices, to help boost their income.

Dr. Sam Akakwasa, the founder of the union, reported that over 500 people from Nyakagyeme Sub County attended the sessions held at different centers. The training includes knowledge and skills imparted by various facilitators.

Participants will learn about improved methods for dairy cattle farming, piggery, baking, soap making, and cooking. Upon completion, they will receive certificates from the Directorate of Industrial Training.

Robert Tumusiime, a facilitator specializing in dairy cattle farming, emphasized the importance of keeping records, selecting good dairy breeds, and maintaining the health of the cattle through proper feeding and deworming to prevent diseases. He encouraged farmers to adopt modern farming knowledge provided by trained personnel.

Participants like Pastor Grace Makanda and Charles Biryabarema Tibenderena, both cattle keepers, expressed gratitude towards Dr. Sam Akakwasa for organizing these trainings, which they believe will enhance their farming methods and improve their income.

The High Mark Waste team from Kabwohe Sheema conducts the training sessions with support from Dr. Sam Akakwasa and Minister Jim Muhwezi.
